Licensing and Pricing Information

Hi! We are delighted you landed here. On this page we discuss the extremely flexible licensing options provided to all our customers, and how you may receive quotes for software, maintenance, and training specific for your project environment. Polarion offers two (2) kinds of license contracts: Term and Perpetual; and two (2) kinds of licensed users: Named and Concurrent. The table below shows the per user fee for each license type. For less than $29 per month you can immediately start using the market´s best ALM software.

Polarion ALM Enterprise™

Like many organizations we measure our development program and report the measures in a weekly fashion. Pre-Polarion this task was manual, tedious and often erroneous. Most of Friday was spent compiling and checking the reports from current projects. With the introduction of Polarion this process has been reduced. Better still it is dynamic and real-time allowing program transparency at all times.

The Polarion Software License Agreement is included with all Polarion software for your review and acceptance prior to use. Polarion SLA´s are in use by more than 1 million users world-wide. Our SLA´s have been very carefully authored to be fair both to you and to us. Maintaining a standard SLA with all of our customers allows us to keep our costs low, focus our resources on developing and supporting great products, and provide low prices to you. Therefore, no changes are permitted to the SLA.

What is the difference between Perpetual and Term?

• Perpetual: You buy a lifetime license to use the Polarion software. Software Support and Maintenance for the first year is mandatory. Subsequent years are optional and may be renewed annually.
• Term: You buy a rental license for 12 months use of the Polarion software. The rental fee includes Software Support and Maintenance. At the end of the annual term, the licenses may be renewed. If the licenses are not renewed, the use of the Polarion software will expire.

You can mix Term and Perpetual licenses together at any time. This is especially useful when your project needs to team expand for 12 months and shrink again.

What is the difference between Named and Concurrent?

• Named User License: This license type is assigned to a specific user identified by his login name. The license is optimal for users who work regular and frequently with Polarion.
• Concurrent User License: This license type is not for a specific user, this license type counts the number of users working with or enabling Polarion software at the same time. This license is optimal for users who use Polarion from time-to-time and share the license with other team members.

Named and Concurrent licenses from any Polarion software product or license type may be mixed with each other. You may add licensed users to your configuration at any time. With our Named and Concurrent licensing you can easily plan for each user's needs and frequency of use, to ensure you are only paying for what you need.

What is the difference between Polarion Enterprise and Polarion Pro?

Polarion ALM Enterprise is the superset product of everything we create for a complete ALM solution. We recognize that while all organizations require a complete ALM solution, not all Users do. Hence, we provide subsets, such as ALM Pro to provide our customers with optimum license flexibility and budget allocation to ensure they are not paying for features not required.

• Polarion ALM Enterprise™

Yes. You can mix and match all Polarion software products in any manner or fashion you desire - at any time. Additionally, you may add licensed users to your configuration at any time.

If we decide to purchase a Term license initially, can we switch to a Perpetual license later?

Yes. You can switch from Term to Perpetual at any time. Any unused portion of your term licenses will be credited 100% towards your purchase. Contact us to discuss further.

When does my Polarion software support and maintenance start?

For New Term or Perpetual Licenses:Your 12 month software maintenance period will commence from the date of payment confirmation. For Perpetual Renewals: Your 12 month software maintenance will commence from the expiration date of the previous maintenance period, regardless of when the maintenance renewal was purchased.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes. Volume discounts are available for 10+ quantities on most Polarion software products. Please contact us to receive a quote

Do you offer free license for Academic users or Open Source Projects?

Yes. All Polarion solutions are available for use in recognized educational institutions for free – no license fees of any kind. The same policy applies to bona fide open source projects. Polarion Software benefits from our educators, students, and the open source movement. We now have over 1 million users globally. In appreciation, we give back to the education and open source communities: Polarion Track & Wiki, Polarion Requirements, Polarion ALM, along with the full suite of Polarion Subversion utilities, are provided to these communities free of license fees to use and enjoy.

• Education License: Polarion offers licenses for educational use in colleges and universities, or recognized educational institutions for use in educational instruction, assignments, or non-commercial research projects. The Education license may not be shared with or utilized by any person who is not an instructor, student, or employee of the colleges, universities, or recognized educational institutions. • Open Source License: Polarion offers licenses for qualified open source software projects as determined solely by Polarion Software. The Open Source license may not be shared with or utilized by any person who is not a member of the licensed open source project. For information or assistance, please email us.

Are there any discounts for government organizations?

Polarion Software does not offer discounts to government organizations that purchase licenses directly from Polarion. Government discounts are only available through Polarion Reseller Partners per the various government contracts (e.g. GSA) negotiated by our Reseller Partners. For help in locating an authorized Polarion Reseller to receive government discounts, please contact us.

Do you offer hosting options?

Because Polarion is 100% web based hosting is easy. You may install Polarion locally, or you may install Polarion off-site (for example at your service provider), or you may request for Polarion to provide you with hosting services. What is the difference between the Polarion software products: ALM Enterprise, ALM Pro, and Polarion Requirements?

The current code base is Polarion 2011. Your License key turns on specific functionality for specific products and users. This is part of the amazing flexibility we provide to our customers to ensure that opur customers are paying a license fee ONLY for the features they need - when they need it. Where can I find the actual Polarion Software License Agreement?

The Polarion Software License Agreement is included with all Polarion software for your acceptance prior to use. To obtain a copy of the Polarion Software License Agreement, or to receive a quote in currencies other than Euros or US dollars, please contact one of the Polarion Software Offices, a Polarion Reseller Partner, or submit our Information Request Form.

How is the software distributed? Will I receive a CD-ROM or shrink-wrapped product?

Polarion has adopted the Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) model. Polarion software is available only via HTTP download. Polarion does not distribute any software on CD, DVD or as a shrink wrapped product.
